A Special Congregational Meeting will be held on Sunday, April 3 after worship. The purpose of the meeting is to pass borrowing resolutions required by the lender and take any other required actions for the loan approval and closing.   This relates to our loan from the Presbyterian Church USA for parking lot repairs. The contract for the work has been approved and signed. Many thanks to the members of the Finance and Stewardship Committee and our Treasure for careful planning and decision making and thanks to the congregation for input on the process.

Agenda

The Meeting is Called to Order- Quorum confirmed
The Convening Prayer
Necessary Motion:  that this meeting of North Kent Presbyterian Church also
be a meeting of the Corporation – ACTION

The facilities committee has discussed our parking lot needs and sought advice and ideas from the congregation last year and also sought estimates on the costs to deal with the deterioration of the parking lot.

Formal bids for the work were requested and reviewed and A-1 Asphalt was selected based on a very complete bid and positive comments from people who had knowledge of their work.  A signed contract has been completed.

The project will involve a slight expansion of the lot, removing the top layer of asphalt, repair of the base coat of asphalt as needed, and a final resurfacing and striping of the lot.  Work is expected to be done after April 15th depending on the weather.
Session approved the proposal and authorized seeking a loan from the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.).  The loan has been approved for $55,000,00 amount at 3.5% interest for 10 years with a monthly payment of about $543.00 per month, with no prepayment penalty.  The loan office requires some specific resolutions from the congregation and the church corporation to pass as part of the loan documentation.

ACTION - Motion
Resolved, the North Kent Presbyterian Church (“Congregation” and “Corporation”) desires to borrow money from the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), A Corporation, in the amount of $55,000.00 unsecured for the purpose of construction/repair of the church parking lot.

Further, be resolved that the Congregation approves entering into a loan as indicated above.

Further, be resolved that the Church Corporation is authorized to enter into a loan as indicated above and that the officers of the Church Corporation are authorized to sign any and all loan documents, and Promissory Note as authorized agents of the Church Corporation.

PNC has been diligently working for the past few months, meeting almost weekly, to find a pastoral candidate for our church. About 8 applications have been received so far, but only 2 have been candidates that have met the qualifications, which we as a church membership began discussing last summer. We are excited about who we have seen so far, and are looking forward to a few more possible candidates in the next months.  Please pray for us to continue the work that the congregation has charged us with.
