Special Congregational Meeting  Pastor Karen Fitz La Barge has been called to be our next pastor beginning on July 5, 2016.  We welcome Pastor Karen and her family to our North Kent family

ANNOUNCEMENTS

Flowers Sunday are in celebration and thanks for all the volunteers and leaders at North Kent.  Thank you for you dedicated service.

Sunday will be a joyful day to thank our choir and musicians for music which has enhanced our worship all year long, and to recognize our Sunday School teachers and students.  We will also be thanking our Pastoral Nominating Committee for their work on behalf of all of us and all other volunteers who work hard to make this a place where we love and serve God well. We welcome the Moms and Munchkins group who are with us in worship today. Thanks to the Membership Committee who will host our coffee hour.

Pentecost Sunday is today and we are receiving our Presbyterian Church’s Pentecost offering.  Each year the Pentecost offering is devoted to the youth of the church.  Some funds support the Youth Triennium, including a prayer center, travel funds, scholarships, youth ministry and outreach.

Some funds support the YAV-Young Adult Volunteers who serve communities at home and around the world while learning skills to help them grow in Christ.  Some funds support CYP-Child and Youth Protection Policy of the church.  This is an outgrowth of the baptism and the promises we as a congregation make to guide and nurture the children of our church.  It includes rules such as providing that all programs, events and interactions with children and youth will have a minimum of two adults present.  No adults are allowed to be alone with a child,  assuring that all children feel safe and loved and know they are loved by God and adults who love  God.

Offerings in this area help support Camp Greenwood, another safe nurturing place for our children to learn and grow in the love of Christ.  Please consider a generous gift to the Pentecost offering today.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

North Kent Presbyterian Church is very pleased to welcome the Rev. Karen Fitz La Barge and her family to our worship this morning.   The Pastoral Nominating Committee is prayerfully presenting Karen to be the next pastor of this church.  Many of us have had an opportunity to meet Karen and her family at coffee yesterday and we look forward to worshipping with her this morning.  A congregational meeting to elect Rev. Fitz La Barge will follow immediately after worship.

Name Tags  Please remember to use you name tags in the coming weeks.  We have lot of activities scheduled and it will help our guests get to know us by name.

Special Congregational Meeting  Session has called a special congregational meeting after worship on Sunday, May 8th to vote on calling the Rev. Karen Fitz La Barge to be North Kent Presbyterian Church’s Designated Pastor; to vote on the Terms of Call for her, and to vote on the possible dismissal of the Pastor Nominating Committee.  These are the only actions to be taken at this special meeting.

Special Music  A sign-up sheet has been placed on the narthex bulletin board for Special Music in worship services this summer.  Gather your solo, duet, or group—vocal, instrumental, or drama and sign up soon.  Start practicing.  Enjoy the fellowship with each other.  The dates are fast being filled.

We have invited the Moms and Munchkins group to be with us in worship that day. The Membership Committee will host our coffee hour.

J.O.Y. Bicycle Group Ride, Saturday, May 14, 2016, at 9:00 a.m.  Meet at the church.  We will carpool from NKPC to Reed City and bicycle on the Pere Marquette State Trail east to Evart and back.  A shuttle will be provided for anyone wanting to be picked up along the route.  Plan on bringing a picnic dish to pass as we share a meal at the staging area in Reed City.13.

NKPC will be sending five of our children to Camp Greenwood on full scholarships this summer!  The session approved tapping into several dormant funds and the Youth Fund to make this possible. Now we want to remind the congregation to keep bringing your RINSED recyclable bottles and cans and place them in the barrels in the Fellowship Hall.  The refunds will enable us to help our youth again next year.

Graduate Gifts NKPC will honor any graduates we have this spring.  If you know of any graduates from high school, college, technical school, etc. please contact the church office.

Minutes Review NKPC will be hosting a Minutes Review for our area of the Presbytery on Saturday morning, May 14, in the Teeuwissen Room. Area clerks will bring their book of Rolls and Registers as well as 2015's book of minutes and pair off to look over each other's books and see that all of the nitty/gritty details are included. If so, the minutes will be stamped approved. If not quite, they are approved with recommendations, or not approved at all.  Those clerks will need to make substantial improvements.  It has been my experience that the vast majority are approved as written.
