ATTENTION VOLUNTEERS! Laura is working on the 2020 volunteer schedule, posted near the flower chart. Current verified volunteers will rotate forward two weeks so nobody is assigned the same weeks every year. We NEED more regular and substitute nursery volunteers, and have openings for one or two more counters, liturgists, greeters, communion servers, and ushers. Please take a few moments to check out the list and let us know ASAP if you need changes to your tasks or are willing to be added to the list for next year. This church runs like clockwork....but only because of each and every one who steps up to keep it going. Thanks for your willingness to help!
The Winter Warmth Tree Please help decorate our winter warmth tree for North Kent Connect with gently used items, for delivery January 6th.
Our Christmas Eve Service will be held on Tuesday, December 24th at 7:30 pm.
Come and join us as we tell the Christ Story, sing our favorite carols and end with the singing of Silent Night by Candlelight! The NKPC Christmas Party will be held immediately following the Christmas Eve service at approximately 8:15 pm. Bring food to share and celebrate Christmas with your friends!
A note from the NKPC treasurer: The session is the administrator of all of the churches operations, including all financial operations. If you are wondering about something, ask an elder or the church treasurer and we will find out the answer and get back to you! --Have a question? Just ask!
Pastor Karen will be on vacation December 25th - January 1st. Cara will fill the pulpit on December 29th. And Rev. Laurie TenHave-Chapman of the Rockford Congregational Church is on call for pastoral emergencies at: 616 866-2412 (church) or 616 863-9070. (Thank you for this time with my family! --Pastor Karen)
The New 2020 Flower Chart is up. Please sign up for your special dates that you would like to honor someone on. Don't forget to put $20 in the correctly dated envelope along with your message and drop it in the offering plate. Thank you for making our worship space more beautiful every week with flowers!
Cookie Walk. A great big thank you to all who made our annual Cookie Walk a big success! This is a Presbyterian Women's project, but it takes a whole church to make it happen and to be a success. Our hats are off to those cookie baker/designers who provided the product! You are truly talented. Thanks also to those who set up the tables, plated the cookies, provided the table cloths, were present before, during, and after the sales event to collect money, pass out boxes, box cookies that did not sell, etc. And don't forget our Pastor, who keeps the sign up to date and accurate and designed the delightful Cookie Walk logo. AND the cleanup crew! We are a church full of talented and willing workers.
About half of the funds collected came from donations this year, and if you have the urge to donate, it's not too late. Our PW treasurer is Deb, and she will accept cash and/or checks made out to NKPC Presbyterian Women. Or drop a check in the offering plate, with a cookie walk designation. PW will meet on a Sunday to be announced to decide which mission projects we will fund this year. Focus, of course, was on Family Promise, but we have other causes we also support. Thanks for your help and support!
Church Keys. Do you have a church key you are not using? We have some volunteers, Elders, and Deacons who could use one and we are running out in the church office. Does your family still need more than one? Please turn any unused keys to the office or Pastor Karen. Thank you for all of your service and good volunteer work.
Annual Reports. It is that time of year to make our list of things to do for the holiday season and New Year. Unfortunately that list must include the NKPC Annual Reports. Guido will again be tracking the timely submission via email of the reports (due on January 8, 2020). He will also check they are in Arial font size 12 with no special characters (i.e. bullet points, images, etc. They should be emailed to NKPChurch@gmail.com. Thank you!
January Family Promise!
Mark your calendars, our next week of Family promise is January 26th - Feb 2. Volunteers are needed to host overnights at the church, load, unload and make meals and other duties. Contact Wendy or Cindy for details.
