June 30th: Worship at Camp Greenwood. On June 30th, worship will not be held in our sanctuary, but in the Pavilion at Camp Greenwood. Worship starts at 10:30 a.m. that day, so if you forget and come to NKPC you will still have time to make it to worship at Camp on time.
NORTH KENT FAMILY PROMISE After over a year of planning, North Kent Family Promise is going to host its first families starting October 6th, 2019!
As we agreed (and voted on during our Annual Meeting last year) our church will be hosting temporarily homeless families for 4 weeks each year. On July 16th we will be signing up for which weeks we wish to host thru 2020. To make this happen we will need lots of volunteers and donations of time, materials, and some money. Our tasks as Host Church will be to provide nightly dinners, Sunday thru Saturday, for up to fifteen guests, "grab & go" breakfasts, a big breakfast on Saturday morning, some activities on Saturday, some material items (sign up for donations to follow), and two people to sleep at the church each night we are hosting. Folding beds provided...same as our guests will have.
This is going to be a community wide effort to help deal with the growing number of families in our area who are experiencing temporary homelessness. We will be paired with a Support Church to help out, and our Boy Scouts are already in. We will be asking other groups that meet at the church if they also wish to be involved in this wonderful opportunity to share our many blessings with others. All guests and volunteers over 18 will have a back ground check.
Training for coordinators will be on July 16th at 6 PM. So far Wendy, Cindy, and Laura have agreed to do this. More volunteers welcome!
I hope to schedule a Monday evening at 6 PM training for all prospective volunteers (Boy Scout meeting night). Pizza dinner will be provided!
We will need to either buy or have donated:
Up to 25 sets of XL twin sheets (will be on sale closer to college time as that is what dorms use)
Towels & washcloths
Hotel size toiletries
Mattress pads (if you have them to donate)
Tote bags (if you have them to donate for storing items at church or giving to families)
Pillows - might buy inexpensive ones and give to the families to take with them
Diapers, odds & ends your kids have outgrown, just for emergencies
Plastic bags for dirty diapers
Non-perishable food - let's wait until September to start collecting, but keep it in mind
Large plastic containers to store linens at church between hosting opportunities
As you travel this summer, or sort linen closets, please keep the above in mind and hang on to items until September if you can. We will have to locate storage space at Church before we can accept donations, but there will be sign-up sheets for donations (so we will know what we have to purchase).
I cannot tell you how excited I am about this great opportunity for our church family to have a local Mission. We very generously support all sorts of Mission projects, but this one we will all get to really see "up close and personal" how sharing our many blessings with others can help all of us to better understand what God has in mind for each of us. Let's do it!

PRAYER SHAWL THANKS. Judy D. sends a special thanks for her prayer shawl, she had it with her for both of her back operations and was helped by the support it brought to her during her time of need.
NKPC FISHING CONTEST UPDATE:
Chet K. is currently in the lead with a huge pumpkinseed entry.
What can you enter to compete? Remember to take a photo of your fish next to a tape measure and send the photo to Pastor Karen to enter the contest.
PRAYER SHAWLS: We are currently running low on prayer shawls! If you would be willing to knit or crochet one for NKPC to give away, please take some skeins of yarn, a pattern and even borrow some needles if you need them. Let's continue to make these beautiful ministry gifts!
