WELCOME GUESTS! If you are a guest today, know that we are happy to meet you, and hope you will be blessed by the worship service and our fellowship time afterwards. It is our goal to show you the love and the hospitality of Christ. Welcome! Please note that childcare volunteers are provided in our wonderful nursery for all of those who are under 4 years old!
OUR FLOWERS today are in celebration of the precious freedoms that we have in this country. May we protect them and never take them for granted.
OVER FLOWING BEDS? Do you have thinned or leftover flowers or plants? Please place those plants you are willing to donate in a disposable container under the tree near our front door. Volunteers interested in developing our garden, please call the church office at 616-866-2230.
NKPC 2018 FISHING CONTEST! Our annual fishing contest back, and this year it will be even easier to score points. We will be using Michigan's "Master Angler" records to score our fish and to compete against each other for a $50 prize and very important bragging rights! Submit your photo of your catch next to a tape measure to enter the contest. Multiple entries encouraged. Everyone is invited to participate.
OFFICE PROBLEM The office manger has a problem. He granted permission to allow the entire office staff to be on vacation for the whole month of August! Volunteers are needed to help cover Thursdays photocopying. Help fix the problem!
FLOODING IN HOUGHTON As many of you with ties to the upper peninsula know, the extreme rainfall has caused great damage to the Keweenaw peninsula. Feeding America West Michigan in Comstock Park is gathering supplies to help. Call 616.784.3250 for the latest information and up to date list of needs.

The painting currently on display in the narthex is called, Nurturing Children and it is an embroidered painting by Grand Rapids artist Liz DeBraber. It is one of ten in the Women in Ministry painting series. Two paintings of this series were recently displayed at the 2018 PCUSA General Assembly in St. Louis by the National Association of Presbyterian Clergywomen.
This painting is from a photo from Liz’s childhood. Written on the back of the photo is; “Elizabeth with Auntie Blanche, the Sunday School Teacher whom she loves.”
The painting illustrates just how important church members relationships with congregational children are, and how influential these adults can be as they shape our children's spiritual lives.
WE DID IT! Congratulations to the congregation for all of the work and the gifts that helped North Kent Presbyterian Church meet our goal of sending twelve kids to camp! $3200
Gifts included funds from the Presbyterian Women,
the funds raised from parking cars for the LPGA, Micki’s
concert and from the generous members of North Kent.
We appreciate the work of the youth who sat at the
LPGA tent or participated in the Camp Greenwood
Clean up days. Next year, North Kent will begin earlier
with projects for the youth to help to earn their way
to camp. Watch for notices starting in the fall.
