Bicycle Ministry Summer 2019 Schedule August 10th, Saturday. 8:00 am Fred Meijer Trail. September 7th, Sunday. 1:00 pm Millennium Park September 28th Saturday. 9:00 am Musketawa Trail (Please see the flyer for details.) Safe Haven Ministries: The Mission Committee is sponsoring a “reverse offering” for Safe Haven again this August. Wish List Items include: Bleach Pods, Sponges, Dishwasher Pods, Swiffer Mop Pads, Brooms and Dustpans, Pregnancy Tests, Hair Brushes, Twin XL Mattress Covers, Disinfecting Wipes, Black Pepper Spice, Potatoes/ Instant Mash Potatoes, AAA Batteries, Diapers Size 4, Baby Wash, Clorox Wipes. We will have a collection box out for the month of August and deliver donations at the end of August. Safe Haven Ministries provides shelter and support for abused women and children in our area. Safe Haven Ministries’ residential and non-residential services are available to women and their children who have experienced or who are experiencing domestic abuse. They serve all women equally regardless of age, race, religious belief, ethnic origin, sexual orientation, disability, or socio-economic status. Please support this worthy cause as you are able. Fundraising Concert for Family Promise: Our congregational friends, Bostwick Lake Congregational UCC are hosting a benefit concert on Sunday, August 11th, 2019 from Noon until 3:30 p.m. The band is Lake Effect from Grand Rapids covering songs from many different genres of music. All donations and funds from the food sales (Hamburgers, hotdogs, brats, garden burgers, chips, drinks and desserts) go toward funding Family Promise in Northern Kent County. Bring your lawn chairs, and your appetites for good food and music for a good cause! Family Promise: Mark your calendars! We are tentatively scheduled for our first Family Promise guests the week of November 10th, 2019. Opportunities for volunteer training will occur August, September, and October. Micki has just had her article, Interality and Legal Rights published in the China Media Research Journal issue 15.4 (2019). The paper philosophically explores the legal rights of those who are in an “in between” state, such as the dying, the transgendered, and refugees without a country.
