Sorry for the confusion! We goofed! I regret to inform you that in our recent stewardship letter the dollar increases in the music department budget were overstated and unclear and thus could lead you to some inaccurate conclusions. We are very sorry for this and would like to clear things up. First you should know that the 2016 budgeted amount for the entire music department was under-budgeted by about $2385. for this year. (Much of this is because we added the Bell Choir this fall and that was not anywhere in the budget, the rest were other increases.) Then we needed to increase 2017 budget to pay for the Bell Choir Director and other natural increases in the music department. Thus the total music department difference in budget numbers created in fall of 2015 to the fall of 2016 is $4310.00. (Not $5,000, that number was overgeneralized. Sorry.) Please also remember also that this is a budget document and not actual expenditures. Confusing things with this even more is the fact that our program year Sept - May does not correspond to our calendar year budget (Jan - December.) Please know that no one is gouging anyone or trying to take advantage of the church. We are very sorry for any unhappiness that this unfortunate wording in the stewardship letter may have caused. It was not intended to do so. Pastor Karen Children. All children ages 4 to 10 are invited to join the Sunday school class following the children's message. This is the biggest fund raiser the Women's Association holds each year so we need as much participation as possible. Thanks! Greenwood Ministries Association On Tuesday, December 6th at 9:00 am, the Presbytery will meet at Westminster Presbyterian Church in downtown Grand Rapids to vote on the future of Camp Greenwood. The Greenwood Ministries Association (GMA) has already raised pledges of over $100,000 to support camping and to create other ministries starting in January of 2017. (Praise God!) What we need is for the Presbytery to vote to allow this new non profit to run camp. The proposal from the Presbytery leadership team is to lease the camp property to the GMA for two years and to appoint an administrative commission to evaluate performance and land use needs. At the end of two years, the Presbytery is recommending that part of the camp property is to be sold and that money to be used for Presbytery administration, mission and other projects other than camping ministry. Please talk to Pastor Karen for more details. If you would like to support the GMA at the December 6th meeting, please register to go at www.LakeMichiganPresbytery.org. There is also a Tuesday, November 29th 7 pm Presbytery discussion meeting at North Park Church in Grand Rapids. For more information on GMA go to GreenwoodMinistries.org.
