On Sunday, October 18 Rev. Dr. Laird Stuart will be with us to speak about healing and forgiveness. He has served as pastor in Presbyterian churches in New Jersey, Grand Haven, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and San Francisco. Most recently he has been Interim President of San Francisco Theological Seminary. He will preach and offer a conversation in the sanctuary following worship. Please plan to attend. Sunday Morning Discussion Group is using a resource entitled “Embracing an Adult Faith,” with 5 study sections: God, Jesus, Salvation, Practice and Community. The next section is titled “Jesus.” We suggest that folks think about these questions for the next 2 sessions: What does Jesus mean to you? What does it mean to you to wholeheartedly respond to Jesus call to “follow me”? Does it make a difference to you that Jesus was a faithful practicing Jew? How has the relationship with the post Easter Jesus change your life? These reflective questions are intended to open our minds, memories, and emotions regarding aspects of this topic, Jesus. This will be an informal discussion with no right or wrong answers, no judgment, and hopefully is a positive learning experience. Disciple Bible study will begin on Tuesday, October 20 at 6:30 and will meet at the church every Tuesday evening throughout the winter and spring. Jerry and Jan Wallace are the leaders. New comers are welcome until thier first meeting. If you would like to be a part of this group, please contact Pastor Paula. The JOY Bible Study group has begun to meet on Tuesday afternoons from 1:30 – 3:00 p.m. for a study of the book of Micah. Newcomers are very welcome! Stewardship Sunday will be celebrated on November 8. In the weeks to come members of the congregation will be sharing with us “What North Kent Presbyterian Church Means to Me.” On Sunday, October 25 the Rev. Nancy Clodfelder will be preaching in our worship service. Rev.Clodfelder is a member of the Northern Region of the Committee on Ministy of our Presbytery and in that capacity she will be interacting with our Pastoral Nominating Committtee.
